3 John 1:2
Dear friend, I hope all is well with you and that you are as healthy in body as you are strong in spirit.
We are Connectors. We truly believe in the connection of ideas, resources, and communities. Our mission states that we demonstrate the transformative love of Jesus Christ by uniting communities to achieve sustainable health equity.
Health equity is described by Health People 2030 the "attainment of the highest level of health for all people." This means everyone deserves a fair chance to lead a healthy life. No one should be denied this chance because of who they are or their socio-economic situation. In order to address sustainable Health Equity we use the arts, mentorship, and community collaboration to address public health, promote change, and unify our communities not only for youth and their families, but also for those who work directly with Youth.
b.unity believes people respond to the arts on a deeper level and we seek to tap into those responses, explore them, and get a healing result. We uses many of the arts photography, poetry, singing, dancing, writing, theater and many more!⠀
b.unity uses mentorship to foster youth development in the areas of a true sense of self, an appreciation of the arts, personal positive core values, life skills, community involvement, and cultural expression.⠀⠀
b.unity uses community Collaboration to establish an intergenerational approach to build strong and holistically healthy communities.
Our work is supported by several key assumptions:
Representation matters: When young people see themselves through art, mentors, stories, and curriculum they are more likely to develop a positive self-image.
Mental health is holistic and cultural: For communities of color, especially Youth in suburban communities with limited cultural representation, mental wellness must incorporate racial and cultural identity, community support, and access to creative expression.
Art is a bridge to resilience: We believe that the creative process is intrinsically therapeutic. It offers a sense of agency, fosters imagination, and helps young people process trauma and articulate their experiences in safe, constructive ways.
Suburban Youth from historically overlooked backgrounds are often invisible in both public discourse and service delivery: These youth exist in an in-between space geographically close to resources yet structurally excluded from them. Their unique needs require targeted support.
b.unity that believes that Holistic Health/Wellness + The Arts = Divine Success for Our Youth. We are all artists and we all have a special gift to give to the world. It is that unique connection that unites us all.
b.unity seeks every opportunity to make a social impact by providing individuals with a safe environment to create, perform, document, and present their stories. Using the arts, mentorship, and community collaboration, we work to address public health and social justice issues, promote change, and unify our communities .⠀
We call ourselves Connectors. b.unity is a non-profit organization that truly believes in the connection of ideas, resources, and communities.
